Software developed for ECP online complaint system
Senate standing committee on Parliamentary Affairs was briefed that Election Commission of Pakistan would inaugurate an online complaint management system soon under which a software has been developed and currently being tested.
“People can lodge complaints from homes without any hassle and can also track the status of their grievances,” said an ECP official on Monday during a meeting of the standing committee held under the chairmanship of Senator Sassi Palejo at Parliament Lodges.
The official briefed the attendees of the meeting complainants could lodge issues through scanned copies of documents while they could file complaints in any language.
The Committee chairperson remarked that the system should be simple, transparent and efficient so that people could benefit from it and its misuse could be prevented.
“Citizens face issues of connectivity in many parts of the country. To solve the issue and prevent misuse of technology steps should be taken and citizens should be made aware about the usage of the system through publicity,” said the chairperson, adding in traditional complaint system voters faced delays.
Responding on the issues, the official apprised that ECP has made 163 sites amongst which 10-12 places had connectivity issues where a dish system has been provided.
The committee was also informed that under the online system, a registered complaint will reach the regional officer and ECP chairman right after it is lodged and the complaint will be resolved within three to five days.
