Over Rs15b released for tribal districts

Federal government allocated Rs40 billion earlier

The provincial government has released over Rs15 billion under the 10-year development programme and the annual development programme for the development of the merged tribal districts.

Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister for Information and Local Government Kamran Bangash as he addressed media on Friday.

He said that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government had recently released Rs10 billion out of the Rs40 billion allocated by the federal government under the 10-year development programme for the merged districts.

Further, the provincial government has issued Rs5 billion under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), it stated.

Bangash added that the agriculture sector in these areas will receive Rs600 million, minority and religious affairs Rs40.5 million, irrigation and water supplies schemes Rs300.5 million, primary and secondary education Rs1.31 billion, power and energy Rs310 million, health Rs2 billion, higher education Rs170 million, establishment and administrations Rs20.67 million, excise and taxation Rs20.4 million, finance Rs2.5 million, food Rs3 million, forest Rs170 million, industry Rs40.95 million, law and justice Rs5 million, local government Rs300 million, and minerals Rs7.3 million.

Similarly, multi-sectoral development will receive Rs100 million, population growth Rs7.3 million, relief and rehabilitation Rs10.5 million. Further, a billion will go to roads, Rs40.46 million to social welfare, Rs310 million to sports and tourism, Rs170 million to citizens development, Rs480.82 million have been released for the water sector development programme.

The K-P government also released as much as Rs500 million to the Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) in lieu of the two per cent property tax.
