ISLAMABAD:

The role of poets and writers in promoting the concept of Pakistan and freedom from the British was hailed on Friday.

This happened during an online discussion on "Tehreek-e-Azadi and Literature", organised by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).

On the role of poets, Wajid Jawad said that they have played a key role in the Pakistan movement. They wrote poems about the love for their new homeland, he said.

Dr Muhammad Kamran said that there is no precedent in history for the way writers and poets evoked the passion of the people in their works.
