Jhal Magsi badly hit by monsoon rains

Dera Bugti mountain ranges and the floodwaters of the Mulla River have wreaked havoc in other areas

QUETTA:

Provincial Minister for Irrigation Nawabzada Tariq Khan Magsi said that his district Jhal Magsi has been badly affected by the floods caused by recent monsoon rain as seven people lost their lives and hundreds of them have turned homeless.

"The recent monsoon has caused heavy rains in different parts of the province and in particular, the Dera Bugti mountain ranges and the floodwaters of the Mulla River have wreaked havoc in other areas, including Jhal Magsi,” Magsi said while talking to reporters on Thursday.

"Agricultural crops in the area were completely flooded, hundreds of mud houses have been destroyed while the provincial government has declared an emergency in two tehsils of Jhal Magsi."

He further said PDMA and district administration are engaged in relief activities but they are limited due to standing water hence we have to intensify the relief operation in flood-hit areas.
