Province registers 58 new cases of coronavirus, taking the tally of cases to 95,800

In a welcome news, Punjab on Thursday reported no coronavirus death in the province in the last 24 hours, while the overall number of daily fatalities across the country came down to a single digit, official data showed.

In an update issued by the spokesperson for Primary and Secondary Health Care Department, Corona Monitoring Room in Lahore on Thursday morning, the province registered 58 new cases of coronavirus, taking the provincial tally of cases to 95,800.

“There was no fatality from the coronavirus. The death toll is 2,186,” said the daily update. The spokesperson added that so far 848,779 tests had been conducted, while the number of those recovering from the contagion had risen to 90,210.

According to the update, 24 cases were reported in Lahore in the last 24 hours, 7 in Rajanpur, 6 in Rawalpindi, 4 each in Multan and Faisalabad, 3 each in Gujranwala and Sheikhupura, 2 in Jhang and 1 each in Gujarat, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Sahiwal.

Meanwhile, the data issued by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) in Islamabad said that 513 new cases and eight deaths were reported during the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally of cases to 950,958 and raising the death toll to 6,209.

Seven of the eight deaths countrywide occurred in Sindh, while one patient died in Gilgit-Baltistan. There were 321 new cases recorded in Sindh, according to the provincial government’s daily update. The tally of cases in Sindh rose to 127,381, while the recoveries stood at 120,757.

The NCOC daily update said that 676 more patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 272,804. It added that there were 11,945 active cases of Covid-19 across the country.
