According to Deadline, the film will be written by Booksmart writer Katie Silberman, Amy Pascal will head it as the producer while Rachel O’Connor will executive produce. Booksmart marked the feature film directorial debut for Wilde herself, and earned Silberman a Writers Guild of America nomination for the script with Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins, and Susanna Fogel.

The Spider-Woman character has been a part of Marvel comics for a long time now, with many characters assuming the title over the years. Jessica Drew took on the title back in the 1970s and since then so have Mary-Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy. The Gwen Stacy version most recently appeared in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
