The Supreme Court declared non-maintainable on Wednesday the plea pertaining to the appointment of Pak Sarzameen Party chief Mustafa Kamal as the project director for cleaning the city's garbage by Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was hearing the plea.

The petitioner maintained that Akhtar had illegally appointed Kamal as the project head for three months and then suspended him the next day instead of removing him from the post. He moved the court to order legal action against the mayor..

However, the court declared the plea non-maintainable and directed the petitioner to become a party in the plea pertaining to Karachi under trial with the bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Mureed Abbas murder case

The bench also directed accused Adil Zaman to appear in court with his counsel at the next hearing of a plea seeking the cancellation of his bail in the Mureed Abbas murder case.

Abbas' widow said Zaman was as involved in her husband's murder as his brother and should therefore be sent to jail.

Zaman claimed he was unable to hire a lawyer due to financial issues, requesting the court to grant an extension for hiring a lawyer.
