LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ijaz Gondal has directed the Chung police station SHO to proceed in accordance with law on an application filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Muhammad Safdar for registering a case regarding an alleged attack on a vehicle, injuring party workers and citizens.

The case was sought against PM Imran Khan, Mirza Shehzad Akbar, NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal, NAB DG Saleem Shehzad and 100 unknown persons including police and NAB officials.

As the proceedings commenced on Wednesday, the petitioner’s counsel Syed Farhad Ali Shah implored the court that police had played a one sided and registered an FIR against PML-N MNAs, MPAs and workers. However, when the PML-N leaders reached the police station to lodge an FIR, the police seemed reluctant in registering it, he added.

A law officer told the court that the petitioner had mentioned NAB in his application while the PML-N workers had injured 13 police officials.

NAB had summoned PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz only but instead the PML-N MNAs, MPAs and workers held a rally outside the NAB office, he said.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the workers and leaders were implicated in a false case merely to humiliate and embarrass them.
