PESHAWAR:

The naanbais held a protest against hiked flour prices outside the provincial assembly on Monday. The rally was organised by the Peshawar Anjuman Nanbanian and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Naanbai Association officials including Khaista Gul, Astana Gul, Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Raheem, and others. They staged a protest at Assembly Chowk and chanted slogans against the district administration and food department. They said that the administration did not fulfil its promises of bringing down the flour prices and the naanbais were on the verge of dying financially. Later, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Dr Ehtisham held dialogues with the protesters, and then the officials leading the protest met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali Asghar. The DC assured that their issues would be addressed within three days after which the protest was called off.
