There is a need for a new socio-political order to address Pakistan's lingering woes, said Pak Sarzameen Party chairperson Mustafa Kamal on Friday.

Addressing a public gathering to celebrate the country's 73rd Independence Day in North Nazimabad, Kamal said that before Independence, the British took over the people's power and resources, and now local politicians were carrying on their legacy.

"We will remain loyal to the state of Pakistan until our last breath, but I ask our conscienceless rulers to grant the people independence from their slavery," he stated.

Reiterating his demand for a provincial finance commission award, Kamal called for the transfer of power and resources to the lowest level.

He pointed out that malnutrition and poverty were the order of the day, while access to affordable education, employment and healthcare were a distant dream for most, and infrastructure had been destroyed. "Our forefathers did not create Pakistan for these corrupt, incompetent rulers who are killing our young and our old."

However, on a positive note, Kamal added that today, Pakistanis were united under the umbrella of one flag. "This is our victory and real success."

Turning to India's atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), he said Prime Minister Imran Khan should not ask the nation whether or not to go to war against India. "If India does not stop its atrocities, we are left with no other option but to wage war for the Kashmiri people," he added.
