92% of Covid-19 patients in Pakistan recover

23,745 corona tests conducted, 626 people tested positive on Thursday

In Pakistan, the rate of recovery of coronavirus patients has jumped to 92.31% as 265,215 people out of the 287,300 people infected by the disease have already recovered.

According to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Friday, the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the country is 15,932.

In the last 24 hours, some 626 people were tested positive for Covid-19 while 14 patients died.

Out of the total 287,300 Covid-19 patients, 2,167 were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 12,062 in Balochistan, 2,426 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 15,342 in Islamabad, 35,021 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 94,993 in Punjab. The greatest number of patients – 125,289 people – was reported in Sindh.

The contagious disease claimed 6,153 lives across the country. Some 2,307 patients died in Sindh; 2,180 in Punjab; 1,236 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; 173 in Islamabad; 138 in Balochistan; 60 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 59 patients died in the AJK after contracting Covid-19.

Some 2,229,409 Covid-19 tests have been carried out across the country so far.

Currently, 1,333 Covid-19 patients are admitted in 735 hospitals. 144 ventilators are occupied by the Covid-19 patients from out of a total of 1,920 ventilators allocated for the patients.

No Covid-19 patient is on ventilators in the AJK and Balochistan.

Some 23,745 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Thursday, including 10,754 tests in Sindh,6,961 in Punjab, 1,921 in K-P, 3,134 in Islamabad, 528 in Balochistan, 227 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 220 in the AJK.

The NCOC holds a meeting every day to take stock of the pandemic. It implements decisions of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Coronavirus, a body headed by the prime minister.
