Oscar-nominated actor Jonathan Pryce, who played High Sparrow in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones is all set to play Britain's Prince Philip in The Crown, reported Deadline.

Pryce will star alongside Imelda Staunton, who was earlier announced as the next Queen Elizabeth II, on the Netflix show for its season five and six. Lesley Manville has also been confirmed to play the role of Princess Margaret in the upcoming seasons. Season four is slated for a late 2020 release.

Previously, Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies have had the honour to portray the Duke of Edinburgh on the preceding seasons of the show. Pryce would undoubtedly be a welcome addition, having been nominated for an Oscas this year for his portrayal of Pope Francis in the film Two Popes. His performance also garnered him a Golden Globe nomination.

Pryce has also had starring roles in Terry Gilliam’s dystopian drama Brazil and also featured as a Bond bad guy in Tomorrow Never Dies.
