Bilal Saeed, Saba Qamar's 'Qubool' is a quintessential love song

The actor's directorial debut relays a heartening narrative without any controversial sequence

Last week, Saba Qamar shared a post on Instagram with singer Bilal Saeed about the latter's upcoming song, Qubool. The actor also revealed that the song’s video would mark her directorial debut while she would also star in it.

Many looked forward to the collaboration until speculations about the video being shot at the Wazir Khan mosque surfaced. The duo then received flak for 'disrespecting' the place of worship, following which Saeed apologised to his fans, assuring them that only a nikkah sequence was shot inside the mosque – that too without any dance or music.

He ended up promising everyone that the sequence would not be a part of the video anymore.

Now that the song has finally been released, it seems that Saeed stood true to his promise and the singer, along with Qamar, managed to pull together a pretty admirable representation of love in a time of indiscretion and infidelity.

Written, composed and produced by Saeed, the track is a catchy contemporary Punjabi love song reflecting the misunderstandings that often blur love’s path, making room for rigidity and doubt. The video on the other hand is a splendid debut for Qamar, considering an entire sequence has been cut short – nothing feels missing. Except maybe how it takes off with the couple on a ride in the middle of the fields, following which they just end up in their house.

But the narrative puts the point across and so does Qamar’s acting as she behaves like a young girl, fearful of being betrayed by the love of her life. Saeed, on the other hand, plays the suspicious lover who doesn’t give anything away with his poker face.

The two make quite the team and the song is bound to play on repeat, if not on your stereo then in your head for sure.
