The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) of Rawalpindi has chalked out a plan to beautify Murree Road for the 74th Independence Day of Pakistan apart from planting thousands of saplings.
A PHA spokesperson said that on the directives of Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister and PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood, a programme had been prepared to celebrate August 14.
The programme will include colourful and entertaining events to highlight the significance of the day, the official said.
The PHA will also plant over 25,000 saplings of different species on the day as part of the ongoing monsoon tree plantation campaign, which kicked off last week.
Saplings for the plantation drive will be provided by PHA while citizens are urged to step forward and play their role in planting as many plants as they can. Thereafter, the official said, the citizen will be responsible for watering and protecting the saplings.
