Raging Waters: Five villages submerged in canal breach

Hundreds of acres of agricultural land were also inundated.

SUKKUR:
A 50-foot-wide breach developed in Mirza Shakh, flooding five villages, Sharbat Pahore, Alif Pahore, Jan Mohammad Pahore, Jalal Mangi and Wahid Bux Solangi. Hundreds of acres of agricultural land were also inundated. The villagers claimed that household items and stocks of grain had been washed away. They told reporters that, the embankment of the Mirza Shakh was in a vulnerable condition. Despite knowing this, irrigation officials failed to fortify the structure.
