As many as 15 people have been arrested in the federal capital for their alleged involvement in grabbing land in a housing scheme.

A police spokesperson said that as part of a city-wide crackdown on the land mafia, the Koral police took action against suspects attempting to occupy land in the Gulberg Green housing scheme. The police team managed to arrest 15 suspected land grabbers during an operation, recovering weapons and ammunition from them.

Later, in a statement, IGP Aamir Zulfiqar Khan said that land grabbing activities will not be tolerated in the city and that indiscriminate action will be taken against those illegally occupying lands of others.

He asked DIG (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed to personally monitor all policing action against land grabbers and ensure that no group makes any effort to disturb the public or harass them.

He asked police officials to complete their investigations in pending cases and submit their challans with the courts at the earliest.
