MQM-P leaders decry HESCO outages

he MNAs appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the situation

HYDERABAD:

The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has rendered Hyderabad’s power supply dysfunctional, lamented Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan MNAs Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani and Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday. In a statement, they held HESCO responsible for making the life of the citizens miserable by failing to stop prolonged power outages. “Even during the emergency situation, outages lasted for 48 hours and even up to 72 hours in some areas,” they claimed, adding that the power utility’s officials were not even responding to consumer complaints. “The HESCO staff only works when it gets its desired bribes,” the MNAs alleged. They further claimed that consumers who resorted to protests were either threatened with further power suspension or their electricity connections were severed. The MNAs appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the situation and order action against HESCO officials.
