KARACHI:

A man allegedly stabbed his cousin to death with a pair of scissors in an apartment in Pehelwan Goth on Sunday night. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

According to Gulistan-e-Johar SHO Inayatullah Marwat, the deceased, identified as 30-year-old Ameer Muhammad, had been engaged in a quarrel with his cousin Israr Khan alias Kochi, following which Khan stabbed him with a pair of scissors and fled from the spot.

On Monday, the police registered a case against Khan on behalf of Muhammad’s brother, Saleem. Claiming that the police were not cooperating with them to arrest Khan, Saleem appealed to the Sindh chief minister to take notice of the incident and order the police to arrest the culprit immediately.

Saleem maintained that Khan was a drug peddler and added that the deceased had a scuffle with him on Sunday evening but the family had intervened and seemingly resolved the matter.

However, he went on to say, Khan barged into their apartment again a couple of hours later and started abusing Muhammad. He stated that though they contacted the police via the Madadgar 15 helpline, the law enforcers did not arrive and the two continued quarrelling for another half hour until Khan stabbed Muhammad.

Saleem claimed that Khan returned later that night and threatened to kill him as well. He added that the police were uninterested in arresting the suspect, despite the head muharrar being informed about the threat.
