Firdaus Market underpass to be ready next month

More than 65% of work completed

More than 65 per cent civil work on Firdaus Market underpass project has so far been completed and construction activity is being carried out round the clock for completing it during the first week of next month.

Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahmad Aziz Tarar visited the site of the project and inspected the work being executed there.

Project Director Iqrar Hussain briefed the director general about the pace and quality of work.

The director general noted that pouring of concrete for construction of deck slab was in full swing besides excavation for building ramps of the underpass. Digging of wells for disposal of rainwater was also in progress for earliest completion of the project.

Construction of all the 880 piles and 350 metres long retaining walls had already been completed. WASA infrastructure comprising of 18-inch diameter sewerage line had also been laid.

The director general expressed satisfaction over the progress on the project. He observed that timely completion of the project was a challenge for all those working on it. He urged the contractors as well as the engineers to gear up efforts for achieving the target. He lauded efforts of labourers and workers in this regard who had been work day and night and even on Eid and other holidays.
