Weekly bazaars to resume in Islamabad
The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Mayor has granted permission for setting up weekly markets in the federal capital that were shut down during the coronavirus pandemic.
IMC Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the weekly bazaars in sectors H-9 and H-10 would be set up as per the previous schedule onwards.
The official said that the decision had been taken in the larger interest of public. However, he added that people must follow all precautionary guidelines as the coronavirus threat is still hovering.
The administration would keep a vigilant eye that the social distancing protocols are followed, he added.
The mayor said that the weekly bazaars were shut down to prevent mass gathering when the pandemic was at its peak as a large population visits them every weekend. Aziz said that the people needed to cooperate with the government to stem virus spread.
