ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) on Friday launched a new ‘water management’ department to manage issues of water supply and wastewater. The department has been created on the directions of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz, a notification issued on Friday read. It added that the department was formed by reorganising the departments of water supply and wastewater treatment. The new department will be led by a director-general and will oversee the water supply, wastewater, bulk water and sewerage departments. Officers of the finance and revenue departments will also present monthly performance reports to the director-general of the water management department. The city’s sewerage system will now be looked after by the STP department, and the STP project director will be answerable to the STPD director.
