Bihar govt accuses Rhea Chakraborty of theft, blackmail
The Bihar government, in an affidavit, has informed the Indian Supreme Court it has jurisdiction to file an FIR in the case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and that his girlfriend and now prime suspect Rhea Chakraborty was dating him only for his wealth, reported Mid-Day.
"She over-dosed him with drugs and then spread the word that he was mentally ill,” read the affidavit filed by the Bihar government, as it cited Rajput’s father's complaint and opposed Chakraborty's plea in the Supreme Court that sought transfer of the case from Patna to Mumbai.
The affidavit said the father of the deceased gave a written complaint to the SHO Rajeev Nagar PS stating that in the year 2019, the petitioner (Chakraborty) came in contact with the deceased actor with the sole intention to usurp all of his hard-earned money.
"It is further stated that the petitioner and her relatives, namely Indrajeet Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty and Shovik Chakraborty, used to completely interfere in the life of the deceased actor. The petitioner (Chakraborty) and her relatives desperately attempted to give the impression that the deceased actor was suffering from a mental illness for which he required treatment,” the affidavit added. “The petitioner also took the deceased to her house where she started giving him overdoses of medicines."
The affidavit said Chakraborty also took all of Rajput’s belongings into her possession and made every attempt to keep him away from his family. "The petitioner also took his bank account details and started using the bank account according to her wishes. The deceased actor wanted to leave the film industry and do organic farming in Coorg, but the petitioner started blackmailing him by saying that she will give his medical report to the media and prove him 'mad,' after which he will not get any kind of work," added the document.
"The deceased actor had informed his sister that the petitioner will falsely implicate him if he did not pay heed to her," it concluded.
The state government insisted that the Patna police has jurisdiction to register the FIR and the court in Patna has jurisdiction to try the petitioner for the offence as mentioned in the FIR registered with Nagar in Patna.
