IESCO shifts power lines over houses
With the monsoon season underway and the threat of electrocution, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has started the process of shifting power lines which cross over or are located close to houses.
This was stated by the IESCO Chief Executive Officer Shahid Iqbal in a statement on Wednesday. He said that a special campaign has been launched whereby power lines will be shifted to safe locations in the entire region.
Moreover, he said that the department will bear expenditures. So far, Iqbal said, 5,370 dangerous points have been secured for Rs814.313 million. Of this, 542 works were completed in Islamabad Circle, 1,300 Rawalpindi Circle, 918 in Attock Circle 918, 1,428 in Jhelum Circle and 1,182 in the Chakwal Circle.
The IESCO chief urged customers to follow safety measures and avoid construction of houses under or close to power installations such as electric wires, transformers etc. He further requested customers to inform related SDO offices about dangerous electricity wires in their area.
