Two gangs busted

Investigation underway

ISLAMABAD:

At least five people were arrested by the Tarnol and Ramna police, busting two separate criminal gangs in the city, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Saddar SP Sarfraz Virk had constituted a team under the supervision of Shalimar ASP Rana Abdul Whab and the Ramana police station SHO Sub-Inspector Muhammad Rasheed and others. They apprehended three members of a criminal gang involved in snatching mobile phones and other valuables at gunpoint from citizens. The suspects were identified as Spars, Rasheed and Mubashir. The police team claimed to have recovered a stolen car, mobile phones and weapons along with ammunition from their possession.

During preliminary investigation, they allegedly confessed to their involvement in snatching mobile phones and other valuables at gunpoint from citizens. They have been booked and further investigations are underway. Separately, a team was set up under DSP Khalid Mehmood with Tarnol police station SHO Sub-Inspector Alamgir Khan and others who managed to arrest two members of a gang of bike thieves.

The suspected gangsters were identified as Haider and Akhtar Afghani while police team claimed to have recovered five stolen motorbikes from their possession. A case has been registered against them and further investigation is underway from them.
