Labourer kills wife, commits suicide
A labourer killed his wife over a monetary dispute and severely injured his sister-in-law before committing suicide in Haji Chowk area of Gogrra town on the outskirts of Okara.
The accused went to nearby fields after attacking the women in his house and committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.
Allah Ditta, a resident of Haji Chowk Gogera, had a dispute with his wife Hamida over the sale of a buffalo, which had intensified.
Their relatives had tried to settle the matter but Allah Ditta held a grudge against his wife, as per local sources.
In the middle of the night, Hamida Bibi was sleeping at home with her sister Munira when he entered the room and stabbed her to death with a knife.
The accused also stabbed his sister-in-law Munira Bibi due to which she was seriously injured.
The labourer then escaped from the house and went to the fields, where he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.
The injured woman was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Gogera police reached the spot as soon as the information was received, took the bodies into custody and started investigation.
The police later shifted the bodies to District Hospital Okara for autopsy.
Osama, son of the slain Hamida Bibi, filed a case under Sections 302 and 324.
In a similar incident last year, a man in Multan shot and burned to death his wife and nine members of his in-laws’ family over a domestic dispute, Express News reported.
The accused, Ajmal, had arrived from Saudi Arabia a few days earlier. Ajmal, with assistance from another accused, Rashid, shot his wife, mother-in-law and others present at his in-laws’ house and then set the property on fire.
Speaking to the media, CPO Multan stated that 10 people, including three women, had died in the incident.
