Engin Altan Düzyatan would 'definitely come to Pakistan and work' if offered

The Turkish star revealed he has always been a fan of Pakistan and would not refuse taking up a role in a project here

Engin Altan Düzyatan, who played the lead role in the superhit series Dirilis: Ertugrul, has been on the road to success ever since coming on board the Turkish show. The actor has been lauded by many for work, so much so that he recently admitted that Ertugrul has changed his life.

Düzyatan also said that it has changed his personality, as he compared the people of the time period depicted in Ertugrul and the people of today. According to him, the latter category is very pretentious.

“While making Ertugrul, I came to know that the people of that time were very simple, pure-hearted and innocent,” Düzyatan told BBC Urdu. “I found out that they were very sincere and had pure thinking. Modern-day human beings are not as innocent and truthful as they were; but highly pretentious. I want to see innocence, sincerity and truth in people today, but unfortunately, such people you do not see.”

While talking about the appreciation he has been getting from the show’s loyal Pakistani audience, the Turkish heartthrob said that he has been hearing about the friendship between Pakistan and Turkey since childhood and it makes him very emotional. Düzyatan is a fan of the country and if he was offered a role in a Pakistani project, he would definitely want to come here and work.

Düzyatan was then asked if he had any idea that Ertugrul would become so popular when he first took up the project. The artist replied saying that when he was offered the role, he thought it was going to be his best project and hoped that it would be very successful in Turkey. He said, “This drama was presented in such a way that all of us (actors) absorbed it in our souls without any difficulty.”

Nonetheless, he did not realise how famous it would become around the world. According to him, Ertugrul has been appreciated not only by Islamic countries but also by followers of other religions. South Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom, its popularity around the world has definitely come as a surprise to Düzyatan.

According to him, one of the reasons for the success of the drama in Pakistan is that is offers a common religion and common values. In conclusion, Düzyatan promised that after coronavirus settles down a bit and travel gets back to normal, he wants to visit Pakistan and express his love to its people in person.
