Tribute paid to officers on Police Martyrs Day

'Martyr is alive,' says Balochistan Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt

The Balochistan Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt on Tuesday paid a rich tribute to the martyrs of police force on Police Martyrs Day.

"The martyr is alive and you do not understand his life,” he said, adding that the police in our province has emerged as a champion of peace since its inception till date as our youth have always sacrificed their lives in the war against crime and especially in the war on terror.

"We are proud to have in our ranks the brave and courageous officers like Fayyaz Sunbal, Sajid Mohmand, Mubarak Shah and Hamid Shakeel Sabir and Sub-Inspector Ismail whose family includes three brave sons and a son-in-law who sacrifices their lives for the country," Butt said. "Balochistan Police has always been committed to its duties hence our determination is growing stronger day by day, and we are fighting bravely to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in Balochistan."

Furtheron, lauding the sacrifice of his force, the IGP Balochistan said so far 924 police officers and young men have been martyred in the line of duty and we are acknowledging the sacrifices of these brave officers and young soldiers.

"Major issues within the police department have been addressed due to personal interest of Chief Minister Jam Kamal whereas significant funds have been provided for the construction of new police stations in the province as well."

IG Butt concluded that modern counter-terrorism training is being imparted in the Police Training College while now the force is ready to crush the menace of terrorism from our land.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) IG Sanaullah Abbasi laid floral wreaths at a memorial at the police headquarters in Peshawar to mark Police Martyrs Day.

Abbasi said that cops in the province have rendered matchless sacrifices for their country, adding that he feels proud to be a part of the force.

The IGP added that despite the absence of adequate resources and equipment, K-P police force has eliminated militancy, though in the process as many as 1,800 police personnel lost their lives.

On fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic, IGP Abbasi said that several police officials have contracted the virus in the line of duty, and some have even lost their lives to it.

The IG assured that they will not let the families of martyrs suffer in isolation, adding that all available resources will be utilised for their welfare.

Moreover, he said that the passage of new legislation which paves the way for the appointment of sons of martyrs in the department had proved that the welfare of martyr’s family was their priority.

Children of the martyrs will be recruited in the police force, he assured.
