Garments association: Call to restore zero-rated regime
International Apparel Federation (IAF) Regional President and Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) Chief Coordinator Ijaz A Khokhar has said that Pakistan can capture a large share in the global value-added textile market. Talking to APP, Khokhar stressed that in order to enhance exports, the government should revise its policies for facilitating the export sector, adding that without due support from the government, the exporters were unable to grab a big share in the global market. Khokhar suggested ways and means for steering the textile sector out of crisis. He added that despite certain odds, the business community engaged with the textile sector was making adequate efforts for increasing exports of the country. He suggested that the government should exempt cotton yarn from all types of taxes and duties to encourage the value-added sector.
