Army chief holds discussion with serving, retired officers

Meeting discusses security situation, peace and stability and opportunities

LAHORE:

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday met with senior serving and retired military officers at Corps Headquarters in Lahore and had an interactive session on wide-ranging issues.

On his arrival, the army chief was received by Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan.

The army chief discussed the security situation in the region, measures to optimise dividends of peace and stability and also challenges and opportunities, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). 

At the end of the discussion, the officers shared suggestions and thanked the army chief for his visit.

General Jehangir Karamat (retd), General Ahsan Saleem Hayat (retd), General Tariq Majid (retd), General Rashad Mahmood (retd) and General Raheel Sharif (retd) were also present during the meeting.

Earlier, on May 29, the army chief said the country's sense of purpose and commitment towards global peace under the United Nations' charter remains unflinching.

He said Pakistan commemorates the 'Spirit of Sacrifice' of the country's valiant peacekeepers, who continue to serve humanity in challenging and restive regions of the world.
