RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police have launched a probe into a video which showed an official van of the city’s special branch transporting goats.

The probe was launched after Punjab Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastagir took notice of videos circulating on the internet showing a police mobile loaded with goats.

The IG had subsequently ordered an internal inquiry into the matter and learnt that the vehicle was being used by a DSP of the Special Branch along with a driver.

Over 285 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Punjab police dept

Meanwhile, the Special Branch SSP issued a show-cause notice to the van’s driver.

Interestingly, official records show that the driver was out of the city on leaves to tend to his sick mother when the video surfaced.

Sources told The Express Tribune that a detailed inquiry has been launched.
