Eid murder: Five killed due to old disputes
Five people including a woman were murdered in separate incidents in the city during the Eidul Azha holidays.
As per details available with The Express Tribune, the incidents took place due to old disputes including one over standing water that claimed the life of a woman.
Police officials said that 36-year-old Zaheer, son of Hassan, was returning after feeding cattle at a barn in Chak No 60GB area of Jaranwala police station on Eid day when he was allegedly shot dead by his opponents identified as Abdul Majeed and his accomplices. The accused had reportedly avenged a prolonged enmity.
On the same day, people broke into the house of Manzoor Ahmed, a resident of Sammundri city police station near the bypass and shot him and his wife Razia Bibi. The victims sustained severe bullet injuries and were rushed to a hospital where Manzoor succumbed to his injuries.
Separately, Dilawar, Sabir and four others reportedly assaulted their neighbour identified as 60-year-old Shama Bibi, wife of Rafiq, over a dispute over standing water in a street on the third day of Eid in Mohalla Haider, Street No 5.

As a result of the attack, Shama fell down and lost consciousness. She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Moreover, 65-year-old Maqbool Ahmed, son of Khushi Mohammad, a resident of Marzipura Bazaar No 2, Razaabad area, was sleeping on the rooftop of his house on the morning of Eid when unknown persons stabbed him in the neck with a sharp tool, killing him on the spot.
The accused managed to escape from the crime scene.
Furthermore, 25-year-old Shahid Iqbal, son of Arshad and a resident of Chak No 652/2GB, Tahirabad Abadi area of Landianwala police station was sleeping alone in his house when unidentified persons entered it and stabbed him to death. The killers escaped after the incident.
The police handed over the bodies of all the victims to the families and registered separate cases.
