Two capital residents drown in dam
At least two residents of the federal capital drowned in the Khanpur Dam on Friday. The dam administration recovered their bodies and handed them over to their families. The dam administration said that they received information that two people had drowned in the dam. At this, teams from the dam rushed to the spot and recovered their bodies. The victims were identified as Hamid and Abdul Rafay, residents of the Saidpur village in Islamabad. Local police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, the district administration has imposed Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), banning bathing in the dam. Meanwhile, the district police have been accused of taking Rs20,000 in bribes from a senior citizen. The central jail nazim told The Express Tribune that the Mushtaq had divorced his wife on her demand. But later, when a dispute emerged between Mushtaq and his ex-wife, the former picked up a stone and the latter with it injuring the woman. The woman’s mother filed a case against Mushtaq and despite paying a bribe of Rs20,000, a case could not be registered. Locals have demanded that action should be taken against the station in charge.
