30 transporters fined for overcharging

Collective fines of Rs38,300 were imposed on 30 transporters

The Sindh Transport Department launched an operation against inter-city transporters charging additional fares and violating standard operating procedures ahead of Eidul Azha. Following the crackdown, collective fines of Rs38,300 were imposed on 30 transporters, while passengers were refunded Rs146,000 in fares. According to Sindh Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah, Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur, Badin, Nawabshah, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas and other cities were covered in the operation. Stating that further operations would be carried out against offending transporters, he added that buses being used for inter-city travel had been fumigated.
