The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), in collaboration with the Sindh government, has established its 18th chest pain unit (CPU) in Keamari.
Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Abdul Qadir Patel inaugurated the unit on Friday, where he deemed the setting up of the facility "another gift for the people of Karachi."
He lauded the NICVD "for introducing a new era in the field of heart healthcare," and added that the CPU would make it easier for the public to access health facilities. Patel further stated that the concept of CPUs was a unique one and told media persons that the NICVD had treated 408,886 persons at these units to date.
The MNA expressed hope that such CPUs would be established in all districts and major towns of Sindh, so that citizens could be provided timely cardiac healthcare, especially in emergencies.
