Delimitation for K-P’s local govt polls begins

The public will be allowed to report their reservations to the delimitation committee between Aug 22 and Sep 6

PESHAWAR:

The process for delimiting village and neighbourhood councils in the province for local government elections commenced on Wednesday.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Election Commission in a statement on Wednesday said that the delimitation process has initiated and is expected to be completed by October 13.

Initial lists for the delimited areas will be displayed on August 21, while the final lists will be published on October 13, it added.

The statement read that district election commissioners have been appointed as conveners of committees which will carry out the delimitation process while the assistant commissioner of the same district and local government department assistant directors will be members of the delimitation committees.

To address public complaints, reservations and suggestions on delimitations, an initial list of the demarcated councils will be published on August 21. The public will be allowed to report their reservations, suggestions and complaints to the delimitation committee between August 22 and September 6. Decisions on all such suggestions, observations and complaints will be taken by October 5.
