PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has released over Rs0.947 billion to upgrade nursing schools in the province to the level of colleges. A total of nine nursing schools of the province will be upgraded to colleges under the programme.

These funds will also be utilised for uplifting the educational cadre and infrastructure of this sector. Thereafter, the health department will also start preparing rules and regulations for the creation of new posts in infrastructure cadre.

Sources have told The Express Tribune that the provincial government has yet to release funds to fill 3,000 general cadre posts.

In 2018 the provincial government had prepared separate project concepts (PC-I) for each nursing college in the province while new posts for these colleges were approved as well.

However, under the new project, positions for principals, professors, and deans up to Basic Pay Scale (BPS) grade 20 have been added.
