KARACHI:

The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA), Sindh, has condemned delays in the appointments of university vice-chancellors (VCs) in the province.

FAPUASA representatives held a press conference on Monday, demanding the quick appointment of VCs for public universities, especially Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Karachi and Peoples University of Health and Medical Sciences, Nawabshah.

Decrying the government's consideration of the SMIU VC for reappointment, they pointed out he had already completed his two permitted tenures. "It is illegal and in contravention with the law to give him the charge of acting VC and shortlisting him for the interview for his third tenure, when it is clearly written in the Sindh Universities Act, 2018, that no person may be given more than two tenures in a university."

FAPUASA further warned the Sindh government that they would protest and boycott online classes and examinations if any VC was appointed for a third term.
