Chinese workers, who were working in Bhawalpur and tested positive for Covid-19 last week, have been taken care of and given medical treatment by Pakistani health authorities.

Some 14 out of 61 Chinese employees’ coronavirus test results came out positive on July 24 and they were shifted to the isolation centre at Civil Hospital Bhawalpur on the same day to prevent the spread of contagion, Muzaffar Khan Sial, the deputy commissioner Bahawalpur told the China Economic Net on Monday.

“Food and all necessities being provided to them regularly,” he added.

According to the deputy commissioner, the Chinese workers had been treated with Azomax 500mg tablets, Hydralin syrup, Cecone tablets and Surbex-Z tablets. “At present, all patients are very stable, laboratory tests are normal, and X-rays show no findings.”

He also said after 10 days from July 24 two coronavirus tests will be conducted with 24 hours gap and if both turn out negative they will be discharged from the hospital in line with the government issued standard operating procedure (SOPs).

"They [Chinese national] are being taken care of, frequently visited by consultants and administrative representatives of Bahawalpur district and government of Punjab. We are concerned and hopeful for their speedy recovery and are taking all the necessary measures needed," the deputy commissioner said.
