Mahmood Khan urges public to avoid visiting tourist spots during Eid

PESHAWAR:

The provincial chief executive has said that no decision has been yet to reopen the tourist spots in the province.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in a statement on Sunday. “All tourist spots in the province will remain closed,” he informed.

CM Mahmood also urged public to avoid visiting these places during the Eidul Azha holidays to prevent further spread of coronavirus.

The statement read that the chief minister has decided to celebrate the Eid with simplicity and has directed all his cabinet members and government officials not to visit any tourist place during Eid.

The chief minister also appealed to public to follow the Covid-19 precautionary measures to prevent the possible

He also urged Islamic religious scholars and mosque clerics to play their role in creating awareness among public for implementing the SOPs issued for Eid prayer and sacrificial activities.

The provincial chief executive also directed the district administrations across the province to ensure that coronavirus protocols are strictly followed in cattle markets.

In May this year, the provincial government had issued a list of guidelines to safely reopen the lucrative tourism industry of the province while preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus. However, the decision to reopen the tourism sector was postponed due to alarming rise in Covid-19 cases in the province.
