Murder or suicide? Cop found dead at home

The warden’s body was shifted to the district headquarters

RAWALPINDI:

The body of a traffic warden with its throat and a wrist slit was found on the roof his house with a knife beside it on Sunday.

The victim’s brother alleged the incident to be a murder, not a suicide and lodged a complaint with the Ganjmandi police. But, the police are insistent that they did not find any evidence from the crime scene that signifies that the victim was killed.

The victim, Sub-Inspector Ashfaq alias Commando, lived in Chungi-4 located in the Ganjmandi area with his family, and held a good reputation in the department as an honest and hardworking policeman. He was on leaves for the past four months due to spinal pain.

The warden’s body was shifted to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital where its autopsy was performed.

Investigation SSP and Rawal SP Mazhar Rai, along with the forensic experts visited the crime scene. SP Rai said that the victim’s brother had lodged a complaint in which he has claimed that his brother had been murdered. However, the official asserted that the police have not recovered any traces or evidence that signify so and the incident seemed a suicide.
