Police register grenade attack FIR
The counter-terrorism department registered on Saturday the FIR of the grenade attack on Gulbahar DSP's office carried out the previous day.
The case has been registered under Sections three and four of the Explosives Act, 1884 and Section seven of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 on behalf of Super Market Police Station SHO Ghous Bakhsh.
According to the FIR, four armed men, on two motorcycles, carried out the attack before fleeing through narrow streets.
They had hurled a hand grenade at the DSP's office, but the device failed to explode.
Following this, a large contingent of police and Rangers personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search for the suspects. According to the bomb disposal squad, which defused the grenade, the item was American-made, highly explosive and could have caused the loss of several lives had it detonated.
Later, the DSP stated that they were investigating the case from different angles and could not rule out the possibility that it was linked to the recent spate of attacks on law enforcers in the city.
