MUZAFFARABAD:

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan said on Sunday that the silence of the international community has encouraged New Delhi's genocidal reign in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).

Sardar Masood, who has spoken out against the Bharata Janata Party (BJP) led Indian government's atrocities in the occupied Himalayan valley, was addressing a web conference, organised by "Justice for All" – an international body striving to root out Islampophobia.

"Everything taking place in IOJ&K should be an eye-opener for the international community," the AJK president maintained.

He said that the world must feel the pain of the Kashmiri people who have been held captive now for an entire year.

Sardar Masood lamented that the UN Security Council and western powers, which claim to be the custodians of democracy, "remain silent" when it comes to the oppressed Kashmiris.

Touching upon the prevailing situation in the occupied valley, the AJK president said that India has massacred half a million people for demanding their freedom for the last 73 years. Under the garb of so-called siege and search operations, he maintained that "the Indian army has been killing innocent Kashmiris to silence them".

Sardar Masood Khan said that the bifurcation of Occupied Kashmir and its annexation into the Indian Union on August 5, 2019 without the consent of Kashmiri people was a clear message that the local population has no say at all.

The Indian government, Sardar said had introduced new domicile laws in the darkness of night during the novel coronavirus pandemic and deprived the Kashmiri people of their right of job, livelihood and business.

The webinar was also addressed by the prominent scholars Dr Abdul Malick Mujahid, Dr Mirza Sahib Baig and Shahana Butt, as well as, Muzammil Ayub Thukar, Shaista Safi, Sardar Zulfikar Khan and Dr Athar Zia.
