14 subsidised flour points set up in Peshawar

The provincial food department on Saturday said that it has set up 14 sales points to provide wheat flour to the residents of the provincial capital at the government-subsidised rates.

At these sale points, a 20-kilogramme bag of flour is being sold to the public for Rs860 in light of the recent directives from the provincial government.

Last Tuesday, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government had approved the release of wheat to flour mills at subsidised rates and also set the retail price of a 20kg bag of flour at Rs860.

Meanwhile, the Special Assistant to K-P Chief Minister on Information and Local Government Kamran Bangash dismissed talk of a brewing flour crisis in the province as propaganda.

He said that an impression is being created that the wheat quota of the province has been reached.

In a statement on Saturday, he said that wheat is being distributed to flour mills in the province at discounted rates to meet the demand for wheat in the province and to provide immediate relief to the public.
