Local official says the bomb was planted under a sack of fruits

PARACHINAR:

At least 17 people were wounded on Thursday in a powerful explosion in Parachinar's Turi Bazar near the border with Afghanistan, officials said.

The bomb was planted under a sack of fruits, Zawar Hussain, a local administration official, told Anadolu Agency by phone.

However, police officials said that It is too early to say whether the blast was remote-controlled or was planted. However, an investigation in this regard is underway.

The injured, some of them in critical condition, were taken to the nearby hospital.

Soon after the explosion, security personnel and police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

In 2017, at least 72 people were killed and over 280 people were wounded in three separate explosions including in Parachinar city, the capital of Kurram tribal district.
