‘Animal feed businesses must register’

District officials in charge, livestock additional director have been given the powers of feed inspectors

FAISALABAD:

The registration of businesses dealing in animal feed is compulsory under the Animals Feed Stuff and Compound Feed Act 2016, stated Livestock Director Dr Mahmood Akhtar on Wednesday.

He added that the act was implemented in Punjab in 2016.

“No one is allowed to run the business of animal feed without registration with the livestock department,” said the livestock director.

In this connection, district officials in charge, livestock additional director, tehsil in-charges and livestock deputy director had been given the powers of ‘feed inspectors’.

“They are authorised to check the businesses for ensuring quality feed.”

The livestock director highlighted that 45 feed mills and shops had been registered in the Faisalabad division since July last year.

He maintained that the livestock department has also registered 10 FIRs against violators of the act. Moreover, he conducted inspections of 510 compound feed mills and feed stuff dealers during the period.
