150 Kanals of land retrieved in Khanpur
The Khanpur Dam administration on Wednesday conducted an operation against illegal occupiers and encroachers in the vicinity of the old Khanpur area and retrieved 150 kanals of land.
These encroachment have existed for years and some had even built concrete structures to make their illegal occupation ‘permanent’.
Armed with heavy machinery, SDO Muhammad Bashir, on the instructions Khanpur Dam Executive Engineer Taj Ali, conducted the operation to retrieve land owned by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and retrieved land occupied by Waqar Ali and others.
A large contingent of police led by Headquarters DSP Iftikhar Swati and WAPDA Inspector Muhammad Suleiman were present on the occasion to ensure a smooth operation. Personnel of the Rescue 1122, fire brigade from the Khanpur Tehsil Municipal Administration and an emergency team of the dam was also present.
Later, while speaking to the media, Basir said that the illegal occupants have been occupying WAPDA’s land for years.
