Driver beats motorcyclist with bat
The video of a car driver brutally assaulting a motorcyclist with a baseball bat in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) went viral on social media on Tuesday.
The video showed the motorcyclist lying on the road beside his motorcycle, while citizens present at the spot did not let the car driver escape. Later, the police arrived at the spot and shifted the car’s driver, identified as Farooq, to the police station.
Meanwhile, the injured, identified as Asif, was taken to a hospital. According to Defence SHO Muhammad Ali, the incident took place on Monday and Asif was a resident of North Nazimabad, who worked as a driver in DHA. He said that Farooq and Asif had engaged in a quarrel after the latter came in front of the former’s vehicle.
Farooq then asked Asif to give him space and both engaged in a quarrel at his refusal, the SHO said. He added that both the parties had made peace and Farooq had agreed to pay for the medical treatment of Asif. In a video statement, which was issued later, Farooq claimed that he had beaten Asif in self-defence.
