All major parks to stay shut on Eid

All major parks in the garrison city, including the Ayub National Park, will remain closed for Eidul Azha as part of measures to prevent mass gatherings of people, which could cause a spike in the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Adhering to the maxim of ‘stay home, stay safe’, the Rawalpindi administration has decided to keep recreational sites including the Ayub National Park, Rawalpindi Zoo, and the Jungle Kingdom will stay shut for preventing the spread of Covid-19, CM’s Adviser on Tourism Asif Mehmood said.

However, small parks in different areas will remain open to the public. Though food stalls will not be allowed to operate, he said when replying to questions from The Express Tribune.

The government has urged the public to spend their Eid holidays with their families at homes, Mehmood said.

The adviser said that parks across the province will open to the public for restricted timings during the day and the evening for fitness purposes only. He added that the lake and the zoo of Ayub National Park are popular attractions and draw the biggest crowds, especially on festive occasions, therefore to ensure social distancing, these two places will remain closed during the Eidul Azha holidays.
