QUETTA:

Balochistan National Party (BNP) workers blocked Quetta-Karachi National highway at different points in Khuzdar and Wadh in protest of the death of a Hindu businessman and Panchayat leader Nanak Ram. He was shot by unidentified assailants on Saturday in Wadh Bazaar. Later, Ram succumbed to his injuries in Government Teaching Hospital Khuzdar on Sunday morning. The BNP staged a sit-in on the highway and blocked traffic to Quetta, Karachi, Gwadar, Larkana and other areas which caused difficulties for travelers in the scorching heat. Meanwhile, Hindu Panchayat organised a rally in protest of the killing, carried the body of Ram and joined the sit-in at Edhi Chowk National Highway demanding arrest of the accused involved in the murder. To resolve the protest, Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Tufail Baloch and Khuzdar SSP Gul Afridi held talks with local leaders of BNP and successfully negotiated with them.
