Hurriyat leaders marked the Day of Accession to Pakistan on Sunday stating that it was on this day in 1947 that Kashmiri representatives unanimously passed the resolution of Kashmir's accession to Pakistan, reported the Kashmir Media Service.

The leaders termed the day as an important one in the history of Kashmir. The resolution was passed during a meeting of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at the Aabi Guzar area of Srinagar.

In a statement, Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan urged all peace and freedom-loving people to observe July 19 as Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day with a renewed pledge of continuing the struggle for achieving the right to self-determination.

All Pakistan Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader and chairperson of the Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Yasmeen Raja, said Kashmir's decision was a testimony to the fact that the people of Kashmir had linked their future with Pakistan. The chairperson expressed concern over India's domicile law and the newly announced housing policy that aims to seize the Muslim identity.

Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party Chairperson Mohammed Yousuf Naqash said the unanimous decision taken in 1947 gave a new impetus to the Kashmiris' freedom movement.

He said the historic decision of that day thwarted tyrannical powers, adding that till today, Kashmiris have been fighting against the plans of Indian machinations and Indian armed forces.

Jammu and Kashmir National Front spokesperson referred to the historic day as a defining moment in Kashmir's history. The spokesperson was hopeful that the day when the people of Kashmir achieve their cherished goal of freedom from India was not far.

The spokesperson thanked the Pakistan government for its continued political, moral and diplomatic support.

Jammu and Kashmir Political Movement General Secretary Pir Hilal Ahmed said religiously, geographically and culturally Pakistan and Kashmiris were one and Kashmir has a natural affiliation with Pakistan.

Moreover, Hurriyat leader Manzoor Ghazi said the people of Kashmir were determined to continue their struggle till accession to Pakistan is achieved.

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement Vice Chairman Abdul Majeed Malik said Kashmiris are observing the day of accession today all across the world to convey to the world that Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir.

The vice chairman added that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had stated that Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan, a vein without which the body is useless.

Kashmir is practically a part of Pakistan, and the Kashmiris have been sacrificing for it for the last over seven decades, he added.
